A real-time AI interview assistant is a tool that listens to a question, understands it, and shows you a clear, well-structured answer within about a second — while the conversation is still happening. Here's what's going on under the hood, and how to use it well.

1. It listens to the audio

When you start a session, the app captures the audio of the conversation (the meeting's system audio, not your microphone). This is the same idea as live captions — the speech is turned into text in real time so the tool knows exactly what was asked.

2. It transcribes the question

Speech-to-text converts the spoken question into text almost instantly. Good tools filter out filler ("okay", "right") so they only act on real questions, not every sound.

3. It generates an answer matched to you

The question — plus context you provided (your role, your resume, the job description) — is sent to an AI model that returns a concise, natural answer. Because it has your background, the answer reflects your experience instead of a generic textbook response.

4. It streams the answer to your screen

Rather than waiting for a full paragraph, the answer appears word by word, so you can start reading and speaking it in your own words within a second or two.

For coding or on-screen questions, you can capture the screen (for example with Alt+S) and the tool reads the question or code directly, then answers it.
